"Before we jump into the data findings from 2024, it’s important to recognise that behind every number, is a lived experience…”

This was how Lauren, our Inclusion and Climate Justice Senior Project Manager, opened her keynote at this year’s Better Business Summit South in Brighton. From changing the way you speak, to adjusting your accent, to feeling the weight of representation, it's an important reminder that every data point in The RACE Report represents real people navigating real barriers.

The session gave attendees an overview of The RACE Report 2024, including:

  1. Why The RACE Report exists: to create transparency, bring the sector together towards a common goal, and create spaces for shared learning
  1. Key findings from the 2024 data
  1. What’s coming in 2025: expanding the intersectional data collection, the return of the staff perception survey, and more spaces for deeper dialogue

Lauren closed with a call to action tailored to the Better Business audience:

  • If you're a charity, funder or NGO, become a participating organisation
  • If you’re a for-profit sustainability organisation ready to take action, talk to us.
  • And if you ever need to convince others of why racial diversity matters in sustainability, use The RACE Report findings to tell the story.

Thank you Better Business Network for inviting us.
