This is the first ever event of its kind, bringing together individuals working in, considering working in, or funding organisations and projects committed to transforming inclusion in the environment sector, wherever you may be on that journey. This is an event for individuals from racially and ethnically minoritised groups in the UK environment sector, those who have the power to create the transformation for inclusion and diversity we need to see, and allies to come together for collective action, wherever you may be at on that journey. This is an event for individuals from racially and ethnically minoritised groups in the UK environment sector, as well as staff in postions of power to create the transformation for inclusion and diversity we need to see, and allies to come together for collective action.
The day will positively challenge, engage and work with CEOs, HR professionals and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) leads, inclusive of underrepresented individuals in the sector. It aims to provide, personal, organisational and collective growth for transformational enhancement of inclusion in the environment sector, to ensure it is a sector which truly serves those communities most affected by climate and ecological catastrophe. Together we will listen, learn and grow through constructive conversations, with the day culminating in solid commitments from all organisations in attendance.
Who should attend?
- Individuals with lived experience of marginalisation and underrepresentation in the sector, and allies (staff, long-service volunteers, trustees, young people/students aspiring to get into the sector)
- Human Resources professionals and Equity Diversity and Inclusion leads from environmental, climate, sustainability, conservation or nature organisations and charities (staff and trustees)
- CEOs and senior leadership professionals of environmental, climate, sustainability, conservation or nature organisations and charities (staff and trustees)
This event builds on the work of The RACE Report, the Diverse Sustainability Initiative and Wildlife and Countryside Link's work supporting the environment sector to progress racial justice and inclusion. We strongly encourage any organisation involved with these networks and initiatives to attend.
